“I did think I did see all heaven before me and the great God himself”, said Handel after he emerged, blinking, from three weeks' isolation in his room. He had just written the best loved of all oratorios, Messiah, which continues to move audiences across the world.

Handel’s baroque dream is realised once more on Wednesday 7 December, by one of London's leading choirs, The London Chorus, and the New London Orchestra, both under the direction of Ronald Corp. The setting is the colourful Victorian church of St Alban's, Holborn, whose splendours are modestly tucked away in the narrow streets behind Chancery Lane tube.

Messiah is the first of a several seasonal events given by The London Chorus, who are going on to take part in Raymond Gubbay concerts at the Albert Hall, London, and Symphony Hall, Birmingham. It is the climax of a busy year of touring, recording and TV, as well as performing in a wide range of concerts, including accompanying Russell Watson at the Albert Hall in May.

Said Ronald Corp “Messiah is justifiably popular – in performance singers and audience alike are transported both by Handel’s great music and by the message the words convey”.
