The Bach Magnificat is one of his greatest choral pieces and is scored for five soloists, chorus and orchestra including trumpets and timpani.
Howard Blake is a popular and prolific composer whose output includes film scores (not least the extraordinarily successful The Snowman), choral, orchestral and instrumental works, ballets and opera.
Mary’s Song draws together various Marian texts including the Magnificat and the Stabat Mater and the work will be receiving only its second performance.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Refreshments are served
in the Church Hall after the performance.

Howard Blake interviewed on Songs of Praise “The Big Sing” on Christmas day 2011 with The London Chorus. |
